The text on the amulet:
nusquam alienam domum ubique -
a stranger nowhere, at home everywhere.
A TOTEM OF protection
Amulets emerged independently in many ancient civilizations, with some of the earliest examples dating back to prehistoric times. Since then many cultures, from Egyptian
civilization to Islamic tradition to certain African religions and the Mediterranean world used amulets as a totem of protection.
Even today people believe amulets can protect them from evil, help them heal, bring good luck, and connect them to divine powers.
Floriography
The modern Western tradition of flower language really blossomed in France during the early 1800s. The practice then spread to Victorian England, where it became incredibly popular as a way to express feelings that couldn’t be spoken aloud due to strict social etiquette. Numerous flower dictionaries were published, and people would carefully compose bouquets (called “tussie-mussies” or “nosegays”) to convey specific messages. The positioning and arrangement of flowers could modify their meaning, and even the way a ribbon was tied could change the interpretation of the message.
